Oslo is the capital city of Norway, with 507 000 inhabitants (as of 1/1 2000).
Oslo was founded around 1048 AD by King Harald Hardråda. After Oslo was destroyed by fire in 1624, it was rebuilt by King Christian IV of Norway and given the name Kristiania. The original name of Oslo was restored in 1925.
